Celebrate Grant’s Birthday With Festivities In Galena

If you enjoy exploring historical sites, then add a visit to Galena, Illinois to your places to visit. In Mid April, Galena host an annual weekend of festivities celebrating the birthday of President Ulysses S. Grant. 





During the weekend-long festivities you can join guided tours, enjoy free museum admission, a Trivia and Spirits pub quiz, pie auction and other activities.

The weekend kicks off on Friday with a stop at the Grant Home for a tour the historic house by lamplight with guides dressed in period attire from 5-6 p.m. 

Spend all day Saturday exploring Galena’s history. Start the morning with a Main Street walking tour with President Grant at 10 a.m. Enjoy free admission to the Galena and U.S. Grant Museum and hear a message from President Lincoln at 1 p.m., followed by an interview with President and Mrs. Grant at 2 p.m.

Among other activities to experience is a presentation by the Women of Courage and Commitment, who reveal true tales of women from the 19th and 20th Century at the historic DeSoto House Hotel at 3 p.m. 

Later, enjoy the evening with cocktails and trivia during the Trivia and Spirits pub quiz at Blaum Bros. Distilling Co. at 7 p.m. There is a fee to register teams of up to four people for a chance to win cash prizes.
