Riding The Rails Across America With Pierre Berastaín

This summer Pierre’s thesis research will take him throughout the United States on a train. The inspiration for the project dates back to Spring Break of his freshman year when Amtrak took him round trip from Boston to Dallas. The four-day trip allowed him to meet people from all walks of life: a symphonic orchestra player,  a college student going home, and a young mother with three children who was escaping her abusive boyfriend.  Each person inspired him in different ways, and to them he feels greatly indebted.
