The Top Ten Destinations and Events To Enjoy In Monterey, California

The beach is one of the favorite attraction's in Monterey, and then there is the Art in the Adobes Festival - which highlights painters who have found inspiration in buildings and gardens, both ancient and modern. This year's theme is Artists & Architecture, and the theme is fitting because for nearly 150 years, artists and architects have been drawn to the Monterey Peninsula by both its spectacular natural settings and its Old World architectural heritage: two Spanish-era churches of quarried stone, along with dozens of Mexican-era adobe structures in picturesque stages of decline and renovation.

Three of the Featured Artists in the annual Art in the Adobes Festival that takes place Mid September in Old Monterey will be M. Evelyn McCormick, Frances Adler Elkins, and Elizabeth Murray.

These Artists share connections with Monterey and France. While they may use different tools, but for similar aims: the creation of beauty, whether indoors or outdoors, and whether the art form is painting, interior design or garden design.

Monterey began as a artists and creative hotspot in the late 19th century, and many of the works inspired there are among the most important in the cultural history of the West Coast. The Art in the Adobes Festival celebrates the creativity of the regions artists and art in every form, and will be one Fall event not to miss!
